Kickin' was one of the forerunning labels at the beginning of the oldskool hardcore scene. Tunes like the Excorcist, The Bee and Sanity Clause topped the early days of the techno breakbeat fusion. The label didn't seem to evolve through 91, didn't produce much in the mold we now call oldskool hardcore and subsiquently is much overlooked when people look back. This is a top tune - right in the mid 92 manic style. | |||

Spare Beat were one of the best underground labels going. Loads of top tuneage on this label including the Blatent tunes and the Connection EP amoung others. Like it says on the tin this tune is easily spotted from the "you and me" vocal sample. Quite difficult to describe this tune which is probably what makes it a good um' - originality. A really catchy synth runs through most of the tune with a few piano's thrown in near the middle | |||

A much sought after rarity - the kind of tune the avid collection dusts down his or her wallet big time for. The rest of this EP is on the techno tip and not up to much IMO but Dementation sampling Pennywise and the Bullfrog amoung others justs seems to roll up into a top peice of smooth 92 action. Does kind of lose it direction a bit in the middle but still a nice little tune to have tucked away. | |||

Keep on Going is one of those rare nuggets which hits a happy vibe without ever sounding cheesy. It is the B-side to the mega well known "Do it together" which explains why it's often over looked. Catchy female vocals, wierd organ samples that are constantly twisted and morphed. I guess there are a couple of long stretches with just drums and bass that are a little bit boring but overall this is a top tune. | |||

Don't know anything about this tune past the fact that its off the Frizidge EP and that its totally wicked. The same riff can be found on the Connections EP from Spare Beat - dunno who copied who, but this EP brings off the best version mainly cause its fucked around with more and so it more interesting. This has gotta be one of my favourite EP's at the moment. | |||

Such a wicked 12" off Bizzy B's Brain label I had difficulty choosing which tune to use for the archive as all 3 are wicked. I bought loads of tunes vinyl off the Brain label in late 91 early 92 and would have ranked them right up there with the likes of Formation. Not sure why the label stayed so firmly underground, perhaps because the tunes were more to the harder side of hardcore. Check out the base on this one and imagine it on a massive system. | |||

The original equilibrium (also on Furious Records) could easily have made it into this section of the archive but this is the obscure archive so had to put in the lesser know and probably slightly better remixes. The other mixes on the 12" are pretty lame but the Nick OD one is tearing - when it kicks into the riff Nick OD has added for his mix the tunes goes manic. Its not often I like remixes better than the originals but this is one of those rare times. | |||

A pretty lame into gives way to some really wicked fucked up piano action. The riff dips and dives in a couple of directions but really hit the mark when it all starts going out of key but someone sounds like it should do - does that make any sense... just listen to the audio you'll know what I mean. Lots of unknown and wicked tunes on the Little Big Giant and Big Giant labels - give them a whirl next time you see them around. | |||

Well you've heard of Foul Play right. You'll know their stuff on Moving Shadow well this is (to my knowledge) their first EP. The best known tune on the EP is Feel the Vibe which got a stonking remix on the 2nd Oblivion EP and is featured in the Classic Hardcore section of the archive. Ricochet is crammed full of fucked beats beefed up with a big time bassline and at the end of the day how can you argue with "love and happiness and togetherness and hugging and kissing" - lol. | |||

Another one I don't know too much about, and pretty vacant on any details for the label as well. So instead I'll have to tell you that this is pressed on the wickest see through vinyl. First glance it looks like a normal vinyl with marks all over it. Hold it up to the light and its see through with dark brown viens running though - kinda of mental to look at. The tune itself is a laid back mellow number featuring some lovely smooth piano breaks - I'm sure you'll have heard it on a mix tape cause it was cained back in the day. | |||
