			The daddy of dark tunes from the daddies of dark production and DJ'ing the Tango and the Ratty. This is a genre defining tune that lays waste to all that came before and set the benchmark for the future. If you have the 12" you'll know working out which track is which can be confusing - the featured tune here is definitely Final Conflict which is the dark side of the vinyl

			More Dark stuff from the kind of ruff Tango. This tune comes off a wicked EP which features Timebomb on the flip. Timebomb is an awesome tune as well and will definitely feature in a future darkcore archive upate. Quite a lot goes on in this tunes, a couple of different riffs are used, there is a breakdown with moody strings, and a constant driving b-line that never gives up.

	PLAY		THE TOUCH - ORIGIN UNKNOWN - RAM (RAMM04)	DOWNLOAD
			Everyone knows the flip side to this tune, Valley of the Shadows but this tune is bizzarely left out and forgotton by most. Well their loss cause the Touch is equally as good as Valley of the Shadows. Kicks off with some totally mental timestrectch beats and a killer bassline. Then some killer "touch me" vocals kick in and then the tune really gets mad. One of my favourites.

	PLAY		DISTORTION CUT - ESSANCE OF AURA - OUTSTANDING (DIS001)	DOWNLOAD
			Essance of Aura is a name probably associated with Drum & Bass as loads of tunes have been released under this alias through the 2nd half of the 90's. The earlier stuff released is all darkcore and is all top notch quality. This is probably the meanest and nastiest but you shouldn't miss the Destiny EP and Can I Dream if you like this one, both are also top darkcore action.

	PLAY		NIGHTSTALKER - DJ SS REMIX - FACE (FACE101R)	DOWNLOAD
			This is the darkest moodiest piece of music I know and its totally fucking awesome. They just don't come any ruffer than this. Moody erie strings in the background, a massive bassline and some of the maddest hoover samples ever. The tune really kicks in about halfway through, so wait for it, which is the point I sit back and feel the rush. Oh boy I love this tune, but it is a bastard to mix with.

	PLAY		NATURAL HIGH - CHAOS & JULIA SET - RECOIL (RCL002)	DOWNLOAD
			Following their first release on the label "Atmosphere" Chaos and Julia set whipped up an even better releases for Recoil 2. A big bassline kicks off this tune followed by a ruff breakdown and from then really up and down, mental one minute breakdown the next but rolls smoothly from one to the other- clever tune. I would quite like some info on who Chaos & Julia set were - so if anybody can oblige much appreciated.

	PLAY		LIVIN IN DARKNESS - TOP BUZZ - BASEMENT (BRS019)	DOWNLOAD
			This is the 93 remix on the 10" double pack release. Well worth picking up the double pack cause as well as having the original mix on it, there is the dirty little number maintain her. Top Buzz were one of the champions DJ's of darkcore so its not suprising they pulled out a few top draw dark tunes on the production front. They didn't produce half as Mad P seemed to think though - "top buzz on wax" - getting chanted liberly.

	PLAY		ON A ROLL - WAX DOCTOR - BASEMENT (BRSS021)	DOWNLOAD
			On a roll is the flip side to Dark Matter 93 making this a choice piece of darkcore wax. One think I'm noticing on the darkcore as I go through this is that there ain't any vocals on any of these tunes. I think that's wicked, vocals are quite often the filler parts of tunes to make up for the fact that the music itself isn't very stong. Ballards for instance - what a pile of shite - Ronan Keating, listen to this and shit yourself.

	PLAY		IN EFFECT - SPINBACK & WINDMILL - LEGEND (LEG002)	DOWNLOAD
			Rather than go for the obvious Q-Project tune I've stuck up another corker on the Legend label by Spinback and Windmill. I'm not sure what the title is as my copy has the label blacked out - so if anyone can confirm it I would be really grateful. I was wondering if all the copies have the labels ripped out - anyone out there know what thats all about. The flip side tune to this is really wicked as well.

			Ohhhhh yes, saving the best to last, this tune is so dark its gonna make your weep. This is the tango remix of Hyper on Experience's tune - gotta say that most of the Hyper on E releases are pretty weak but the remixes are spot on - this one isn't an exception. Must be up there as one of the darkest tunes around - well spooky wailing vocals in the background and evil riff - class.
