| STARTED AGAIN - NAZ AKA NAZ - DEJA VU (DJVU017) | DOWNLOAD | |||

Nice and ruff 91 tune. Instantly recognisable from the "started again" vocal played throughout the tune. Has cheeky rip from mentasm which ruffs it up a bit before slowing down to a lovely piano break. In true 1991 stlye jumps all over the place, a real mish mash of sounds.

Oh my god - absoultely massive tune. Really laid back, smooth and mellow but still with loads of energy. Wicked piano's, great changes of pace, up and down - wicked tune. Extremely rare and difficult to get hold of, there are dodgy bootlegs floating around (Birmingham!!) but beware because they only have one side of the EP pressed on them and the flip side is absoluely wicked too (sound quality is crap too).
| CLOSER (HYBRID MIX) - RHYTHM QUEST (DREAM40) | DOWNLOAD | |||

Closer to all your Dreams (couldn't fit the full title above), a wicked tune but bit overplayed these days. Gotta be one of the most annoying tunes to track down as they are over 10 mixes of it and all of them except this one are pants - the Hybrid mix is the one you want. Network records not particularly well known for hardcore tunes but pulled out a corker with this one.
| DREAMWORLD - RHYTHM SECTION (RSEC006) | ||||

Ellis Dee, Rennie P and Nick Newton on the production. Under Rhythm section these guys produced some of the best late 1991 tunes which changed the direction of rave. Hugely uplifting piano based tunes but incorporating fat breakbeats they were at the forefront of moving the scene away from more techno style stomper or house style piano tunes. Top notch - love all thier stuff to the max.

A personal fave this one - can still remember where and when I heard it first. Essentially a much more hardcore version Congress's 40 Miles - the tune has a massive massive fat bassline added, another piano riff and some mad seudo hoover noises. This got absolutely cained back in the day, quite righly cause its wicked, but strangely don't get a look in these days. Pick it up on e-bay for about £5!!!
| NASTY (REMIX) - SYKICK - HAMSTER (12QUICK1) | DOWNLOAD | |||

No debate about this one - absolute anthem. "Set your mind free" vocal (along with what sounds to me like "I don't wanna play hoe's") you know this track " has had a remix" - lol. Uplifting piano throughout - top stuff. SYKICK002 was the original promo release, this has been recorded off the Hamster release which also features wicked Terrorise mix.
| DANCE THE DREAM - DESIRED STATE - (DWR106) | DOWNLOAD | |||

An early hardcore tune that combines the more harsh techno element with sweet piano breakdowns. "This is a Dream" vocals make the tune instantly recognisable. Like a lot of the tunes in this section the track jumps around all over the place through lots of different element - what gives early hardcore its energy really. Sounds a bit slow these days (recorded here at 0% pitch) but was heavy track back in the day.
| DO YOU FEEL - MENACE MAKES 3 (DC12003) | DOWNLOAD | |||

You know this one - anthem city - "Do you feel what I'm feeling" vocals and smooth pianos, breaking into much faster synth riff then moving into a quite acid sounding riff. Another pretty difficult tune to find given it came out on the small Dance City label and therefore only got a relatively small pressing. Guaranteed to make the dance floor rock - top tune.
| LOVE IS EP - NOOKIE - ABSOULTE (ABS005DJ) | DOWNLOAD | |||

What marks the currently regarded anthems out is generally the big piano breaks, they are more uplifting and bit less hard and as a result of all that a bit slower than the average oldskool tune (130bpm-145bpm). This tune sums up all those elements - the whole EP is tip top - were u expecting any less from Nookie. Strangely the EP comes in a red and a white picture cover - pain if your collecting all Absolute's. |

Not really one of my personal favs, a bit too cheesy for my liking. Still a well played out tune on the radio and at nights - perhaps not quite so much now as things are moving a little bit more underground and harder. Some unsual squeeky noises, bassline that is far from ruff (more home casio keyboard) - but all saved by the wicked piano's and riffs and some good vocal samples.
