FINEST ILLUSION (ILLEGAL) - FOUL PLAY - (SEC) DOWNLOAD
Big 1993 tunes from the absolutely wicked Foul Play. All the trouble on this one is due to the illegal sample from the SOS Band. Released original on a pink label promo then on Moving Shadow offshoot label Section 5 before being quickly withdrawn and finally released on a black label "bootleg" copy which was in fact pressed from the original metalwork (so its not really a bootleg but was released to look like one).

MUSIC TAKES YOU - BLAME - MOVING SHADOW (SHADOW11) DOWNLOAD
All in all this has got to be a bit of a disppointment to pay over £100 for. 5 sections of Seal sample on the good side and then a different never properly released mellow version with loads of Seal vocal on it (the audio featured here). Limited to the test presses and a few hundred promo's before being pulled and re-released without the vocals. The track is also featured on the Spares booleg EP realeased 92.

SHOCKING TO THE BREAK OF DAWN - DJ E & EZ M (DE001) DOWNLOAD
To clear things up a bit there are originals of this and then their is the remixes. The remixes are reasonably plentiful (relatively) its the original pressing which is as rare as ravers not on something. Not one that particularly rocks my boat, featuring samples from the earlier techno tune, the names of which slips me at the moment.

EL-BLAND-E - MEN FROM DEL BOSCA (FTRAX001)
DOWNLOAD
This is one that is worth the money IMO. A slightly unusual and unique sound due to it being produced outside the UK - very ruff, raw and powerful for a 1992 tune - very much on the dark and moody tip. Instantly recognisable from the Ice T vocal sample "you are now about to witness the strenght of street knowledge". The EP features 3 mixes of the same tune - this is my favourite and the one most people talk about.

DEATH BY STEREO - DJ DANCE - ORBITAL (12YOYO1) DOWNLOAD
This one seems to be a big people's favourite hence the big price tag. The tune features samples from the file "Lost Boys" featuring Donald and Kiefer Sutherland - "I Shall not kill vocal". The EP also features a speeded up verion so you can fit it into quite a few sets. Recently bootlegged on the sly you can tell the original as its a 4 track EP and the bootleg is only a 3 track (so I'm told I've not actually seen the bootleg myself).

  EXTREMITY EP - 2 EXTREME - EMPIRE (E001) DOWNLOAD
Probably one of the best piano based pieces of oldskool hardcore there is. Maybe its cause its so rare and hence not cained by every single DJ like a anthem (cause they ain't got it) or maybe it is just one of the best tunes. If you do find the EP you'll be happy to know your getting your money's cause they are 2 corking tunes on the EP. Rumours of a bootleg - you know where not to shop don't you - damn those brummies.

  TANGO PROJECT - TANGO - F-PROJECT (WHITE004) DOWNLOAD
Tango is behind some of the best oldskool hardcore made and this EP is no exeption. Both sides of this EP are tip top - the audio featured here is from the slightly more junglely feel side which in my memory was the more played out back in the day. Released on F-Project the more experimental Formation off shoot label - that explains why there are fewer around and why its quite difficult to find.

  X-PYSCH-TING -WHITE LABEL (XPT001) DOWNLOAD
One that I don't know much about at all. Its a white label no details and no more tune were released with the XPT cat number. As a tune its probably one of the best mid to late 1992 tunes and up there challenging for best tune of all time in my top ten. If you like back luck - completely and utterly rare as gold dust - kind of thing that makes Finest Illusion and Seal Blame copies look like tunes you can pick up from HMV.

VISIONS OF RAGE - DRAGON FLY - B2B RECORDS (MO1) DOWNLOAD
This one for the real old oldskool massive - a quality 1991 tune from the time before tunes cranked up above 130bpm and got real choppy and hectic. Mellow but driving I can't explain to you why this tune is so good, real basic, staight forward production but somehow its just eats up your brain and takes over and when the dreamy breakdown hits half way through my the poor grey matter hits meltdown :)

JUST WHEN U THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE - DJ EXCEL (MO1) DOWNLOAD
Another more 1991 tune that a of people get excited about. A noisy early hardcore/techno tune typical of 1991. The tune is punctuated by loads of vocal samples from Jaws as well as having the classic Jaws chords from the film. A pretty heavy tune all in all - so not one I'd expect to be everyone's cup of tea
